Hi all! Sorry for the brief absence! My weeks are super crazy, so it's hard to maintain during them, but I'm going to try my best to continue! Milan Fashion Week was amazing! The last days of shows were stunning and super impressive! Check out the best below, they are probably some of the best of the entire week!
Basharatyan V:
Basharatyan V’s collection is a neutral palate dreamland. I appreciate the play on silhouettes with extensions in the shoulders or floating sleeves. I found it really embodied a lot of ideas without being ridiculous or spacey. It all stayed true to a single style, while having a ton of interesting ideas. Solids mixed with sheers, slinky mixed with bulky; great variety! It’s just a completely beautiful show and I think it is so relevant to where fashion is going. Polished with an edge!
Roberto Cavalli:
Cavalli’s collection is very commercial, but it has interesting and unique pieces that girls will just eat up. Animal prints run rampant; it started out scaly, then mixed with furry prints. There is plenty of popping colors mixed with these prints, creating a loud, but very cohesive collection. There’s beautifully demure work wear mixed with loud nightwear, and a touch of elegance. It’s great of Cavalli to show a successful way to mix animal prints, and well as using that for beautiful gowns. The mix of structure and flow shows that he really knows what he’s doing. Fun with a touch of elegance!
Sergei Grinko:
Grinko’s collection is just stunning! There are tons of lines, tons of textiles, tons of silhouettes, tons of prints; endless variety! It’s so cohesive even with all of the elements! It’s mostly demure and dark, but the pops of emerald and blues are gorgeous! It’s very polished but still innovative. Pretty daywear mixed with bold and daring gowns. Just look at it!
Honorable Mentions:
Cristiano Burani – Great lines, slinky, with bulky fur, pops of color, and figure attraction!
DSquared2 – Classic, cool, commercial, colorful and fun!
Normaluisa – Beautifully neutral, polished, classy, pretty!
I'll post a trend research post on #MFW tomorrow, most likely! As for Paris Fashion Week, I'll catch up on the mini reviews today! Some of the shows are mind blowingly amazing!!
