#PFW - March 2nd Review

Christian Dior:

Delicate, strength, and elegance are what comes to mind when I think of Dior, and this collection was all of that and more! It starts out darker, and femininely strong, and then moves to a more delicate show filled with elegant and stunning gowns! There is plenty of leather, fur, brocades, wools, and lightweights. I love the middle where there are tons of beautiful separates in a gorgeous mauve. There are tailored solids mixed with great prints; all of these clothes are extremely polished (of course!)! I could gush about this collection on and on; it’s so classic, yet interesting, and so effectively made! The prime influence reminds me of European palaces and their décor. It’s so rich! Stunningly lovely!

Lanvin:

Who can do colorful solids better than Lanvin? No one! I love the progression of this show! The bright signature solids start the presentation, then they move to completely black, then begins the metallic and prints; this proving that Lanvin can do it all! Solids can often be boring, but Lanvin has a knack for cutting clothes that makes a tailored solid into something special. There’s lace and frills to keep it girly, while still maintaining an undeniable strength! I love the pops of color and the touches of metallic and fun accessories (I mean, eye shaped pins? Come on!) It’s super strong, cute, fun, cheeky, and serious! It’s got it all!

Roland Mouret:

Mouret displays cute dresses in this collection that are tailored, attractive, and useful! Many girls can wear these dresses effectively, and some are very appropriate for work, while still being fun enough for the nighttime. There are a few separates that are very polished and solid, and could be combined in many different ways. I like the lack of bold prints; after seeing them in so many collections this season, it’s nice to see that a collection can be complete without any of that! Polished and effective!

Honorable Mentions:

Isabel Marant – Prairie, American West, and Cowboy influences while remaining feminine and pretty!

Sonia Rykiel – Casual elegance at its finest!
